Rose Geranium has a delightful rose-like aroma without the price tag of rose absolute.  It is sweeter and lighter than geranium with a nice rosy overtone. If you like the scent and frequency of rose, you really should try rose geranium.

Dark Sweet Orange is very much like bitter orange in its properties and uses.  It differs from regular sweet orange in that it is from a first pressing that enhances the therapeutic quality.

Palmarosa is a great stress reducing oil.  It can be used for physical exhaustion
and other stress related problems.  A great oil for reducing stress
AND relaxing tight muscles.

Health tip
As we come into the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas seasons of the year, I would like to take this opportunity to ‘spoil’ the upcoming season by reminding all of us that refined white sugar is very bad for our health! As I gathered material to write this ‘tip’, I realized that I have enough statistics on this topic to fill a small book.  I am only going to give you a few, just to give you something to think about.

Sugar suppresses your immune systems and impairs your defences against infectious disease.  Source: American Journal of Clinical Nutrition

.
Sugar causes a loss of tissue elasticity and function.

.
A ‘deadly’ link has been established between the consumption of sugar with carbohydrates (such
as breakfast cereal,) and violent behavior, hypertension, and learning impediments.

Sugar can cause a rapid rise of adrenaline, with resultant hyperactivity, anxiety, difficulty
concentrating, and crankiness in children.

Sugar is an addictive substance.

.
German researchers are making claims that intelligence, measured in terms of the mental
capacity to think, reason, and memorize is significantly reduced when sugar is consumed.

Our bodies require sugars, but they are not equipped to handle chemically altered substances.  Refined sugar is one of these substances.  It offers no usable nutrition.  Instead it stores as fat, clogs your arteries,  depresses your immune system, contributes to obesity and pre-mature aging, creates mineral deficiencies, increases your blood pressure, interferes with your absorption of protein, increases the free radicals in your blood, can even impair the structure of your DNA, and compromises your health in dozens of ways.
An average American consumes 45 - 50 teaspoons of sugar per day.  You only need 3 - 4 teaspoons and that should be natural sugars.  About half of these 50 teaspoons is found in foods where you might not expect it.  For example, an average bowl of most breakfast cereals contain 7 - 10 tsps of sugar; an 8 oz cup of fruit yogurt contains 8 tsps of sugar; an average breakfast muffin has 6 tsps of sugar; 12 oz soda has 10 tsps,1 slice of white bread has 3 tsps.  Doesn’t take much to have too much!!
Let’s do ourselves and our families a favor this flu season and increase the whole grains and wholesome vegetables in our diets, and get the sugars we need from the nutritious fruits that God has provided for our use.  We expend a lot of time and energy trying to get ourselves well when small changes in diet might do us a great deal of good.
If you get a sugar craving you can quickly eat some green leafy vegetables or some type of protein and it will satisfy the craving.  A big glass of water is also helpful.

Storing Essential Oils by Val D Westover

The common factors affecting essential oil storage:
1
Temperature
2
Air
3
Light
4
Contaminants
5
Harmonic Balance
6
Containers

    1)  Temperature:  Most oils are not as sensitive to temperature variations as one might think.  This is true especially if the container is sealed air tight.  A good temperature range for long term storage for most oils is 65 degrees - 70 degrees.   Although citrus oils are commercially stored at lower temperatures, the negative effects on the oils is more commonly from exposure to air than from temperature. Some oils like Thyme begins to separate at 65 degrees.  Moldovia rose will separate as low as 80 degrees.  This very beautiful oil is not commonly used because people are not willing to warm it in warm water before use.  Essential oils are distilled with steam with little damage if care is used.  Consistency in temperature is the more important issue.

    2)  Air:  Air is the culprit for most oils.  Those oils that are rumored to improve with age are not as sensitive to air as the rest.  Examples are sandalwood, balsam, and myrrh.  The problem is the oxidation and the resulting breakdown of the components.  Obviously, then, if your oils are very warm, cool them down before you remove the lid.

Tests on oil storage are often done by removing the lid monthly for 1 minute.  If you are storing your oils in glass, in sizes over 1 ounce, you will need to ‘burp’ your oil regularly to keep the bottle from exploding. Burping is opening the lid to allow excess pressure to escape.  This is not a problem if you have about 1/4 or more airspace.  It would be best to store your oil in a container with 1/4 airspace and leave the lid on continuously and keep the temperature below 75 degrees.
For oil that is used regularly, put it in a small bottle with a dropper assembly.  The dropper will greatly deter the air exchange and will help keep the oil fresh even with regular use.

    3)  Light:  All containers provide some protection against light.  However a closed cupboard or box is best.  Keep your essential oils in the dark, as much as possible.

    4)  If you have pure oil and you keep it free from contaminants, it will obviously store longer.  This is especially true in relation to mixing with fixed vegetable oils such as olive, grapeseed, or almond.  These carrier oils will do a lot of damage in just a few short days.  Do not pre-mix your essential oils and your carrier oils.

    5)  Harmonic balance:  The citrus oils are the class of essential oils with the shortest shelf life.  The individual components are not bound together very well, and the higher notes escape when the lid is off.  This is much more of a problem with higher temperatures.  If someome leaves your sweet orange in the hot sun, cool it down before you remove the lid.  A good blend is said to be in balance.  Good blends will have a better shelf life than ordinary singles.  The harmonic balance seems to bind even the higher notes together.
You can often tell a poor quality blend - it changes over time.  I’m still using some blends from the kitchen cabinet with Aladdin’s Lamp labels.  That was more than 8 years ago.  Oils are not reputed to keep that long - mine are working just fine.

    6)  Containers:  Glass is the best.  Some oils will store fairly well long-term in plastic, but glass is the king.  Boston round - the brown one is a fair choice.  They keep out a fair amount of light.  The dark blue bottles are the very best at reflecting ultra violet light.  They are spendy and do not work as well as a closed cupboard.

Happy oiling!!!

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)
Part of the formula the Lord gave Moses (Exodus 30:22-27); cinnamon has very specific purposes: 1) a powerful purifier, 2) a powerful oxygenator, 3) enhances the action and the activity of other oils; may have a stimulating and toning effect on the whole body and particularly the circulatory system; virus spores, bacteria and fungi cannot live in the presence of this oil, making it useful against infections of all types; use for coughs, colds, flu, rheumatism, arthritis, general debility, aches, pains, typhoid, vaginitis, warts.

Ingredient In: LeBountiful, LeDeliverance, LeEnergy, LeFocus, LeHoliday Spirt, LeInner Peace, LeJourney
Therapeutic Properties: stimulant, antiseptic, antibiotic, anti-viral, anti-putrescent, analgesic, antispasmodic, emmenagogue
Application: appropriate areas on feet or directly on areas of concern (dilute well first), diffuse with caution
Contra-indications: avoid if pregnant; too strong for use in baths; use with caution with children or sensitive skin; best used in low doses and in blends.

Eucalyptus Blue Mallee (Eucalyptus polybractea)
A very versatile and useful oil which actually becomes more effective as it ages. This new Blue Mallee variety, which is not blue, appears to have a higher affinity for lung congestion and bronchial dilation and seems to be outstanding in antiseptic properties as well. The aroma of this eucalyptus is milder but seems to penetrate more deeply into lungs. The milder aroma make it pleasant for children and useful in emotional work.

Ingredient In: LeAspire
Therapeutic Properties: anti- catarrhal, anti-depressant, antiseptic, expectorant, calming
Application: may be used as a poultice or compress for infected areas and abscesses; dilute and use as a massage oil, add to a bath, apply to appropriate areas of the feet, directly on area of concern
Aromatic: pleasant when diffused, might be used in times of stress or mental exhaustion or to combat bronchial or sinus infections, often used during meditation to calm and center

Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum)
Historically and in many religious traditions, jasmine flowers symbolize hope, happiness and love; because of its powerful effect on the emotions and on hormonal systems, jasmine is often effective for a very long list of physical, mental and emotional disorders, including menstrual pain, labor pains, muscle spasms, skin care, sprains, uterine disorders, etc. Jasmine (grandiflorum and sambac) flowers are extremely fragile and it takes approximately 3 1/2 million fresh picked (in the morning hours) blossoms to make a pound of jasmine oil, making pure, therapeutic grade jasmine extremely pricey and, of course, the chemical substitutes do not contain the constituents and properties of the real thing.

Ingredient In:
grandiflorum is the preferred variety in LeExhilaration and LeWoman Wise
Therapeutic Properties: anti-depressant, stimulant, aphrodisiac, anti-spasmodic, sedative
Application: apply to appropriate areas of the feet and body
Aromatic: beautiful fragrance; said to strengthen relationships; increase intuition; uplifting

This Kit Includes

Influenza
We have been receiving a great number of phone calls regarding the swine flu in the past few weeks. This informational sheet has been put together in an attempt to answer questions and concerns that you may have about the swine flu.

The swine flu normally infects only swine but has recently shown the ability to infect humans. Research is now showing that not only is the swine flu able to infect humans, it is also being spread by human-to-human contact, not just contact with swine.

The number one thing that you need to remember when dealing with swine flu, or any other illness, is to TREAT FOR THE SYMPTOMS that you are experiencing at the present time. The name of the illness or the strain of bacteria/virus is less important to herbal and homeopathic remedies than you might think.

Many of the same things that you would use to treat the regular flu will be what you need for the swine flu as well. Keep in mind that you are probably looking at both viral and bacterial infections occurring at the same time. Viral infections almost always open the body up for overgrowth or infestation of one unfriendly bacteria or another.

Recommended Essential Oils
LeDeliverance is considered to be anti-viral as well as anti-bacterial.
Daily use of this oil can boost the immune system and keep it functioning at optimum levels. An inhaler with LeDeliverance should be used frequently throughout the day to “refresh” the body’s defenses.

LeEndo Relief helps the lymphatic system continue to drain and to keep toxins and dying bacteria from over-whelming tissues and cells. This oil is also very helpful during the recovery stages of serious illness because it is designed to strengthen and re-balance the endocrine system as a whole.

LeMariah is a wonderful support for the entire respiratory system. It promotes the rebuilding of the lungs while helping to eliminate the virus and bacteria from the respiratory system.

LeStefanie is another respiratory blend that may be helpful in ridding the body of any anti-biotic resistant bacteria strains.

LeBreezey and LeAspire and always good to support and open the respiratory system. LeBreezey and LeAspire and always good to
support and open the respiratory system.
.

LeRevitalize and/or LeLife Force are both good oils for improving energy levels during the illness and for helping the body re-gain strength and remove residual bacteria and toxins.

LeInside Out would be a must if there is any intestinal discomfort or diarrhea.

Herbal Tinctures
RC-L
Red Clover Combination, an amazing blood purifying remedy, to which lomatium root has been added. Lomatium was used in northern Nevada during the 1918 influenza epidemic by the Washoe Indians with amazing recovery results. It is utilized today by naturopathic physicians in the treatment of influenza, pneumonia, bronchitis, etc.

Cayenne/Hawthorne
Cayenne sustains and protects the heart during times of stress and during infectious diseases. Hawthorne improves the integrity of the cell membrane and prevents damage to individual cells throughout the body.

This mineral supplement tincture supplies essential B vitamins needed when the body is under stress, as well as other necessary vitamins for the proper function of the body’s immune defenses.

Rosehips
supply a very potent, very absorbable form of vitamin C in a concentrated form. Vitamin C is necessary for proper cell function and regeneration and for a strong immune system. Vitamin C is required for the uptake of many other nutrients by the body.

Olive leaf
Very potent anti-bacterial as well as anti-viral herb. Particularly helpful in reducing the high fevers associated with viral/bacterial attacks. Studies have also shown that it relaxes arterial walls and reduces the hyper-tension that is created by fever and/or dehydration.

Some other things to remember
Get plenty of rest
Drink plenty of water
The best plan is prevention: avoid exposure
Wash hands with soap and water frequently
Avoid hand contact with your face and mouth
Treat your symptoms as soon as they appear; change protocols as the symptoms change
