The Heart Chakra
Health Tip: by Sharon Moran

There are seven major chakras within the body.  The word chakra means “spinning wheel” in Sanskrit.   These wheels are energy centers which are strategically placed along the spinal column.  They begin at the base of the spine and move up the spine to the crown of the head.  The 4th one, the heart chakra, is centrally located within the chest right over the sternum.

The heart chakra is associated with love, compassion and truth.  It corresponds physically to the lungs, heart, thymus gland, arms, hands and fingers.  Imbalances in the heart chakra could manifest in physical conditions including asthma and breathing issues as well as blood pressure related problems.  Metabolism and energy level could also be affected by an imbalanced heart chakra.  Emotional imbalances may manifest as being resentful and judgmental.  Disturbed heart chakra energies may manifest as imbalances between giving and receiving.  A person may experience periods of loneliness, anxiety, guilt, shame or fear.  On the other extreme, we can give too much of ourselves away and lose sight of our center.

There are many ways to help bring the heart chakra into a more balanced state.  Certain essential oils are very beneficial at producing this effect, both on the physical heart and the emotional heart.  The oil blends of LeBelieve,Le Faith, LeInner Peace, Solitude and Unity are helpful.  The single oils of rose, frankincense, myrtle, palmarosa and rose geranium have also been useful in shifting the heart chakra into a more balanced, even state. Apply the desired essential oil, diluted with carrier oil, over the heart or on the feet.  Try using the same oil in different places, at different times or switching oils every few days.  Putting oils in the tub is always a wonderful way to utilize essential oils.

Your Amazing Heart
Your Amazing Heart
Imagine a machine that pumps thousands of gallons of fluid each day. What kind of maintenance
would be required to maintain this type of a machine so that it continues to flow without any
interruptions, restrictions or break downs?
Believe it or not, each of you has such a machine inside your body doing exactly that. The heart
is a muscular organ that acts like a pump to continuously send blood throughout your body. The
heart is at the center of your circulatory system, pumping oxygenated blood and nutrients to help
maintain your organs. A healthy heart supplies the areas of your body with the right amount of
blood at the rate needed to work normally.
The average, healthy adult body contains betweens 5.2 and 6 liters of blood. According to the
U.S. Department of Health, the average heart pumps about .073 liters of blood per heart beat or
about 2,000 US gallons during a 24 hour period.
Your heart is vital to your health and nearly everything that goes on in your body. Without the
heart’s pumping action, blood can’t circulate within your body. If disease or injury weakens your
heart, your body’s organs won’t receive enough blood to work normally.
Hear are a just a few ways to keep your amazing heart healthy:
NUTRITION
Better food habits can help you reduce any risk factors you may have for heart disease. Eating a
wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain products, organic meats and drinking
more water lead to a more health lifestyle.
Food Tips:
Vegetables and fruits are high in vitamins, minerals and fiber — and they’re low in calories.
Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables may help you control your weight and your blood
pressure. Unrefined whole-grain foods contain fiber that can help lower your blood cholesterol
and help you feel full, which may help you manage your weight.
Eat fish at least twice a week. Recent research shows that eating oily fish containing omega-3
fatty acids (for example, salmon, trout, and herring) may help lower your risk of death from
coronary artery disease. Cut back on beverages and foods with added sugars. Drink more water.
Choose and prepare foods with little or no salt. Aim to eat less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium
per day. Keep an eye on your portion sizes.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
There are dozens of activities that get our feet moving and our blood pumping. Our bodies were
made to move and physical activity is vital. Whether it is included as a structured exercise
program or just a part of your daily routine, all physical activity adds up to a healthier heart.
According to one of the latest joint American Heart Association/American College of Sports
Medicine guidelines on physical activity, all healthy adults ages 18-65 should be getting at least
30 minutes of moderate intensity activity at least five days a week. Another study shows that
adding weight resistance training into your routine will not only increase your strength and
stability but will increase your bone mass.

Physical activities could include: Swimming, cycling, jogging, skiing, aerobic exercise, walking,
running or yoga. There are many activities to choose from. Find the physical activity that suits
you best and begin your “heart healthy” physical activity program.
LEARN CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)
In the event that you find yourself in a situation where you need to help someone who is in
cardiac arrest or has stopped breathing for any reason, prepare yourself ahead of time by taking a
CPR class. Knowing how to call for help and performing CPR until medical help arrives on the
scene, may save the life of someone you love, someone you know or someone you have just met.
Training is available in most communities. Contact your local fire department, local hospital or
Red Cross chapter to take these courses.
The first step to a healthy heart is learning the simple things you can do every day. By enjoying
nutritious meals and engaging in a physical activity program, you can help to reduce the risk of
heart disease. There are many resources to help you choose the activities that are right for you.
You will find many resources on-line and in your community. A good place to start is:
www.americanheart.org
I challenge you to begin this year by taking better care of your amazing heart. You will find that
your amazing heart will take better care of you.

"The love we give away is the only love we keep"
- Elbert Hubbard -

LeBeloved
A beautiful oil for relationships - both romantic and with family and friends; assists us in feeling the love that God and the Universe has for each of us; feeling loved can help us to heal our own emotional wounds and then, from our wholeness of heart, we can see clearly and respond generously and in just the right way to those around us; the negative emotions found in out-of- balance relationships can manifest in a variety of ways, making this blend effective for such things as bed-wetting, headaches, heart palpitations and menstrual cramps, to name just a few.

Ingredients: bergamot, geranium, lemon, mandarin, sweet orange, ylang ylang
