Frankincense (Boswellia frereana)  Considered the king of all the Boswellia species this frankincense only grows on the steep slopes of coastal Somalia.  The resin is used as a chewing gum in the Middle East, strengthening the teeth and providing antibiotic properties to the mouth and gums.  The keynotes of this frankincense are the calming, self-centering properties that it provides.  Boswellia frereana is said to enhance and balance the spiritual aspects of an individual more so than the Boswellia caterii or serrata.  This makes it useful in treating stress, tension, depression and other nervous disorders.  It is also helpful in improving the immune system, partially due to its antibiotic properties and partially because of its ability to raise our overall frequency.
Therapeutic Properties: prized for its spiritual and emotional balancing abilities, also a good antiseptic, tonic
Application:  apply to appropriate areas of concern or chakra; diffuse
Aromatic:  use in times of stress and anxiety; for fear

ENZYMES
Enzymes are the intricate, yet delicate substances found in all living cells.  They are necessary for all living things.  There are several different classifications of enzymes - metabolic enzymes and digestive enzymes are two of the largest categories.

Metabolic enzymes are essential components for optimum cellular function and health.  Without them all cellular life would cease to exist.  Metabolic enzymes speed up the chemical reactions within the cells.  They allow the cells to detoxify and produce energy.  In short, metabolic enzymes keep our bodies going on the cellular level.

Digestive enzymes help break down the food we eat. They are mainly produced by the pancreas, liver, gallbladder and intestinal tract.  These digestive enzymes allow us to break down the food we eat, absorb the nutrients available and discard the waste products.

Life cannot exist without Enzymes

Enzymes are needed for every chemical reaction that takes place in the body.

Enzymes are needed by vitamins and minerals to maximize their distribution and delivery
within the body.

Enzymes are required to properly digest all foods.

Enzymes are inevitable destroyed by cooking and processing food.

Enzymes can prevent partially digested proteins from putrefying, carbohydrates from fermenting,
and fats from turning rancid within your system.

Enzymes from a plant based source (which has not been heated) become active when they enter the body.

BALANCING YOUR BLOOD SUGAR

Out of control blood sugar is the underlying cause of most of the sickness, depression, A.D. D., A. D. H. D., chronic joint problems, aches and pains in this country.  Research has shown that if you can learn to keep your blood sugar in balance your energy and health will greatly improve.

When blood sugar rises high above base line, the blood circulation throughout the body is restricted.  When blood circulation is restricted there is not enough blood getting to all parts of the body.  Since the blood carries the nutrition and oxygen to the cells, a decrease in circulation also limits how much nutrition your body cells are receiving.

When blood sugar drops below base line, then you become hypoglycemic.  This condition is just as dangerous as high blood sugar.  Your body responds by trying to raise your blood sugar.  It gives you cravings to eat some high glycemic carbohydrates.  Even if you resist this craving with will power, your body will still raise your blood sugar level.

To raise your blood sugar, your body sends out an alarm and puts you into a state of stress.  This causes your body to produce the hormone cortisol.  Cortisol works on the adrenal glands and causes the body to dump glycogen (stored sugar) out of the liver and muscles into the blood, thus raising the blood sugar up out of its hypoglycemic state.

The glycemic index is a numerical system measuring how fast a carbohydrate turns to glucose (sugar) and enters your blood.  The pancreas is charged with the task of producing the right amount of insulin based on how fast and how high your blood sugar levels rise.  The right amount of insulin is necessary to move the glucose from your blood, into your muscles and liver and store it as glycogen.

The goal with insulin is control.  If the cells in the muscles and liver are already full, the cells naturally resist the insulin.  If this happens too often the cells become insulin resistant.  When the storehouses for glucose remain full the rest of the glucose remains in the blood as triglycerides or liquid fat.  If this is not burned off during the day your body will store it as fat.

Breaking the cycle of blood sugar peaks and valleys is vital to achieving and then maintaining optimal health.  You can use exercise and proper nutrition to help your body achieve this balance.  With blood sugar levels under control many of the symptoms mentioned earlier will simply disappear as your health continues to improve.

Seven Key Points for Better Health and Balanced Blood Sugar

1.  Exercise hard enough to sweat and pull the glycogen out of the muscles and liver a few times a week; every day would be better.   (This only takes 30 or so minutes a day.)

2.  Never eat carbohydrates alone.  Fat, fiber, vinegar, acid and protein slow down the rate of change of carbohydrates to glucose.  (Protein does it best.)

3.  Never eat more carbohydrate grams than protein grams at one time.  Get a good book to help you count carbs and protein.

4.  Drink a LOT of water a day - up to a gallon.  Your body is 75% water, your brain is 85% water.  That should give you a clue as to how important water is for your body.

 5.  Eat every two and half to three hours.  Don’t skip meals.  If you go too long without eating your blood sugar drops and you become hypoglycemic and start that chain reaction.

6.  Try to eat mostly medium to low glycemic carbohydrates.  The lower the glycemic index, the slower the glucose takes to get into your blood.  The slower the rate of absorption, the better your body burns fat.  If you do eat high glycemic carbohydrates make sure you eat protein first.

7.  Get plenty of sleep - between 8 to 9 hours every night.
