This oil was, in the past, included in European pharmacopoeias. Has been used since ancient times to heal wounds and ulcerative sores, treat cuts and scars; considered strongly anti-septic; used to treat chills, coughs, and colds; sometimes used for arthritis - possible corticosteriod action
