This oil was recommended for use by Hippocrates and is currently in the British Pharmacopoeia as a remedy for flatulent dyspepsia. Useful for nausea - even in pregnancy; relieves heartburn; reduces water retention; well-known remedy for sexual dysfunction; aids the digestion, relieves stomach cramps and gas pains; has many of the same properties as ginger, but is less of an irritant, making it useful as a massage oil to relax muscles and soothe the skin

Therapeutic Properties: anti-septic, anti-spasmodic, anti-bacterial, aphrodisiac, carminative, digestive, diuretic, laxative, nerve tonic, expectorant, immune stimulant
Application: dilute well and apply over stomach and solar plexus areas; add to the bath
Aromatic: should be warm, sweet, and spicy with no harsh over-tones or hint of eucalyptus-like aroma; use for mental fatigue and nervous exhaustion
Cautions: non known; often blended with other essential oils rather than used by itself
