Hinoki
(Chamaecyparis obtusa)

In Japanese, hinoki means “white cedar” and is the prized wood used for building temples, shrines, and structures used in the highly valued daily bathing rituals.   Renowned worldwide as an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral.  Hinoki is gentle on the skin, making it a very effective antiseptic and very useful in the healing of rashes, cuts, abrasions, and minor skin irritations and problems.  Hinoki is a decongestant and is particularly effective on the sinus cavities and the respiratory system.  Hinoki is a gentle and effective oil and contributes to a wonderful sensation of peace and relaxation

Therapeutic Properties:
anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, decongestant, relaxant

Application:
especially nice when added to a bath;  apply to the appropriate areas of the feet; use well diluted as a massage oil

Aromatic: hinoki means “white cedar” in Japanese, and this tells you much about the smell.  Although not of the same genus as cedar hinoki has a similar, but milder, aroma;  a delightful way to relax and unwind at the end of the day
